Beast of burden
Beast of burden!
I was dragging myself in the vast stretches of desert. All
that I wished for, was a few drops of water to relish. The scorching Sun had
sucked in all my blood. My sense organs had given up for the want of water. The
sun had proved its dominance over me. Hot air blew past my body. I could no
longer keep my eyes open. Nature has taken a complete toll. I was worse than a
slave. My master whacked me with a stick. It was to indicate that I should be
running now. He failed to understand the power built over me by the heat,
however hard I tried to protest.
I had already stooped down. I saw a tiny Scorpion peeping. I
felt miserable seeing him carrying no burden. Desert grasses and cactus flowers
grew nearby. But my eyes were only in search of water. Soon my senses had
stopped responding. And only then I saw water in front of my eyes. I dragged
myself and my master with all his goods burdened on me. This was the last
motivation left for me to live- WATER. I started limping towards it. My master
hit me again for digressing from my original path. But I kept limping forward,
saying short prayers to myself for the blessing of divine.
“It was just a mirage!” The world has been in delusion for
years and so do I.
I looked up in the sky. I found no clouds that could prevent
the hot rays of the sun from burning my skin. I cursed my existence. The hope
broke my strengths even more. My master continued to grouch but I stood still.
My legs trembled. My knees buckled and I fell on the sand. I said my last
prayers. A big leaf of palm tree fell on me just like flowers on the grave on
the day of funeral.
This piece of writing is against exploiting the innocent animal who are made to work in extreme conditions for man's selfish end. Let's be the voice of these unheard ones.
